Here in The Oaks, our homes must pass a series of different inspections throughout the construction process to ensure they comply with city, state and national building codes. One of the first inspections our homes must undergo is for the foundation. City code requires a special type of monolithic slab foundation designed to withstand the unique movement of our clay soil here in Southwest Oklahoma. A solid foundation designed for this area is critical in building a home that will last a lifetime. In order to know for sure that your home has the type of foundation necessary for this area, it needs to be inside the city limits where the builder has to pass an inspection ensuring that the foundation is built to code. Outside the city limits there is no entity to enforce any code and many foundations outside the city limits are not built to this same standard.
